i don’t know how to rate this book. it was so good in the sense that it made me feel things, it left a mark on me. but i doubt i’d reread and i don’t think i would recommend it. the story is so raw, vulnerable, and difficult and i feel like it was written in a way only a child psychologist could pull off (hence DOCTOR lucinda berry!!).
it altered my brain chemistry and made me uncomfortable and uneasy but because of that, it was an impactful and real life story. it made me question how would i handle this situation if it happened to me. it’s unlike any book i’ve ever read and part of me misses the person i was before reading it lol.

in short, if you read books to make you happy and feel good, do not read this.
if you read books to FEEL emotions and delve into the human experience, then proceed with caution.

This is an incredibly difficult subject matter and absolutely is not for everyone. It is hard to describe why this story is good without giving away major spoiler but I find myself trying. It is a necessary story to help understand the levels of effects on a wider family when a member is a paedophile. It’s incredibly difficult to see things from Adrianne’s POV for much of this book but the author does well developing her feelings and thought processes. This is a sad, difficult book which I’m not sure I’d want to read again.

This was a super interesting read, and one so different than my usual. The story line follows a sexual molester, who is also a teen, along with his family and their relationships dealing with this whole situation. It really makes you think about things differently and allows you to be on the other side. NOT saying that this is ever a good thing! However it puts you into the sa offender’s family’s shoes making you feel what they might. grab tissues. Shocking end

I thought this would hit me a lot harder with having children, but I found myself only really sympathizing with the mother. I think Noah was amicable to knowing he wasn’t going to change, but I just could not find myself sympathizing with him at all. The plot twist was definitely not what I saw coming and it definitely explained why his dad was acting the way he was, however, you would think having experienced those feelings he would have tried to help. Instead I found him to be a self centered coward and I’m glad that marriage didn’t last for his mom’s sake. As always Lucienda Berry’s writing was perfection however.
