This is an excellent sequel to the original book, however I felt that I was missing out on key information at parts, or that some things just didn't make much sense. Like Feyre's new abilities didn't take too long to master, or how she understood what someone meant by something but there was no explanation as to what she was understanding.

However, I ate this up. The new characters grew on me immediately- Cassian, Azriel, Mor, Amren. I fell in love with Rhysand over and over again through his and Feyre's flirting, through the ways he showed how much he cared for her well-being.

Very well thought out backgrounds to events that took place in the first book, brilliant descriptions which added to the already well established worldbuilding, drama and advernture, friendship and betrayal, trust and love and heartbreak and spice. What more could you want?

Big upgrade from the first book. Spice level increased by a good 40%. Enjoyed watching feyre’s progress and how she flourishes. It was nice to be able to relate to her mental health problems but watching her find herself again and find what life had to offer really just inspires hope in me. I’m excited for the next book albeit I don’t believe any other book in the series will live up to the expectations of this book.

Was not expecting to like this as much as I did. The characterization of one character in particular
Spoiler (Tamlin)
dramatically changes from the first book. I think the second and third books in this series work very well together but are sort of disconnected from the first book.
Spoiler If there had been bigger red flags with Tamlin in the first book or moments where the mask slipped a bit him turning into an abusive prick would have made more sense. Book 1 Tamlin and Book 2 + 3 Tamlin are very different characters and makes the first book feel disconnected. I like book 1 on it’s own and I like books 2 and 3 together but when you put the whole series together the jump between 1 and 2 doesn’t really make sense.
Besides that I enjoyed the books if you can pretend
Spoiler Tamiln was showing more signs of being abusive in the first book and accept that you aren’t really going to see his character develop in that direction
then it’s pretty good.

The only exciting part of this book was picking out what Maas stole from the Black Jewels series.
