2.5 (Audio Book)

Overview: I "read" this as an audio book. My very first audio book! And I have to say it was probably a bad choice because for the first half of the book I was 100% completely confused. None of the characters were likeable and I often found myself rolling my eyes while out pushing the pram and walking the dog. The plot jumped around all over the place and there was even a book within the book which threw me completely!

Good Points: To be honest other than the writing style being decent I struggled to like this book. Maybe I would have enjoyed it more had I actually read it and not listened to it. I'm not sure. I guess we'll never know. I have loved 2 of her previous books but unfortunately this one fell flat and just didn't have me hooked.

Not so Good Points: Other than what I've previously mentioned I also have to add the ending wasn't particularly shocking. I didn't guess it correctly but when it happened I was like "meh".

Overall a disappointing and thoroughly confusing "read".

I would give this more of a 3.5, it was fine. I thought the stories for each character were strong and interesting, but the mystery itself fell a little flat for me. I thought it was relatively predictable and not as thrilling as I expected, but it was still enjoyable.

The book is slow, confusing as it keeps jumping back and forth, past and present, too many characters and almost all of them are unlikable and pretty mean and terrible people.

The story is more of an introspection, analyzing thoughts, situations, people. It is long and not exciting and by the end of it I got tired and bored with them all.

Very much what I wanted to read at the moment - a well written thriller. A couple of deaths, a cast of suspicious characters, a host of motives, intriguing back stories - all adding up to a great read.
