charlie and nick are so so so fudging cute (so cute that i dont even dare use my usual go-to "fcking" for emphasis..thats a first for sure). not only them but also the multitude of other characters who are all complex, multilayered, and explored in more depth this time 'round, both in terms of backstory and relationships w/ one another. i also highly appreciate the depictions of various types of reactions others have towards the main characters' relationship and sexualities, that it's not always a love-or-hate and black-or-white kind of thing (also how coming out isn't a one-time thing at all).
an aspect that makes this volume a step up from the previous two is its sensitive and thoughtful exploration of charlie's deeply personal issues such as self-harm and eating disorders, made even better by the fact that these revelations are received w/ nothing but love, care, and support; it's so reassuring and reaffirming that it nearly brought me to tears while reading. the diversity of its characters is delightful and the paris setting actually perks my interest in going there irl.
