The first half of volume five moved the overall plot forward a bit—and provided some humorous moments when Maomao “instructs” the inner court. The last half highlighted Maomao’s skill at solving mysteries as we followed her along on three different sleuthing missions.
Maomao is a pure delight. You cannot help but smile yourself at the expressions of joy on Maomao’s face when she encounters poisons. And, I admire her skills of observation and deduction.
This manga crosses genres and provides bits of fantasy, mystery, romance, and court intrigue. Seeing all of the multiple facets come together will keep me blissfully reading.
Graphic: Vomit
