People talk about Molly being the worst AG, but honestly, I think Kirsten is. I know this book came out years ago, and that Kirsten/other folks like her would have acted the same, but something about this book rubbed me the wrong way.

This review is from the perspective of a mother - Kirsten and the Chippewa centers on Kirsten's initial fear and prejudice of visiting Chippewa, along with her struggles with her temper. A good short story to read along with your little one, to address some of the larger issues that get swept aside by the adventure part of the story, but I do think there is more obvious character development in this story.
The Looking Back section also does a nice job detailing life of pioneers and Native Americans on the frontier, but the tensions of the two groups is a bit dumbed down and whitewashed for my taste.
