mehh....Not my favorite volume so far in the series. It was all over the place and the story starts 8 months after the previous volume, so there is a chunk of content we're missing ....
Also the issues in this volume switch between different artists and I HATE when graphic novel series does this. It's a huge pet peeve of mine because I like reading/seeing the characters with a consistent style throughout the series.

Ms. Marvel, back after the world kind of didn't end, deals with gentrification in her hometown, Jersey City and struggles to balance her personal and superhero lives. I like how they let her get overwhelmed to the point of creating more problems for herself, and the new characters they introduced in her brother's fiancee and Bruno's new girlfriend, both of whom are definitely cool. Ms. Marvel exists in a universe where diversity is normal, and I like that Wilson keeps putting more facets of that into these stories, both when introducing new characters and when filling out the background.

A lovely award winning comic.
I found the comic so delightful funny, had some pretty beautiful heart, story was compelling. Set up some fascinating challenges for Kamala Khan, and the comedy paired well with the serious moments as well. The story has some twists I was not expecting, funny lines and meaninful ones too. The other characters were so full of life and made the storyline interesting. I love Ms. Marvel comics so much and she is my favorite Marvel character. Oh and the cultural stuff is pretty fascinating too, and the Marvel cameos too.

I'm not a comic connoisseur, obviously, because I still can't figure out how to easily identify what part, issue, or volume any of these are. So I think what I read was Vol. 5. But I'm pretty positive I missed several sections of the story. Regardless of it being out of order, I loved this. Kamala is trying to do too much, and has come face-to-face with the reality of celebrity: you can't control what people think of you.

Update 2022: Kamala is definitely learning a lot about herself in this volume especially when it comes to Bruno moving on. She doesn’t expect it to happen so quickly so she has to navigate her feelings when it does. The amount of chaos that happens in this book is spectacular but I definitely think it had a lot to do with the fact that readers get an idea of how chaotic Kamala’s life really is. I’m glad that there was an emphasis on her remembering that she’s a teenager first before being a superhero.
I can't explain how much I loved this volume. This series has definitely improved from volume to volume and I love the story and arrows now and the diversity of characters. I can't wait to see where it goes and I will be doing a full review soon.
