This was amusing and overall I liked it, but I'm not sure I will read the others in the series lol

I don’t normally read this kind of book (regency era? No. Romance? Usually not) but I enjoyed this one! I think it was the magical elements that really made me want to check it out. A person with half a soul, I gotta see how that goes!

For the most part this story doesn’t have a TON of romance, but what we did have was actually pretty cute. I didn’t think I’d be down for Dora and Elias’ romance, but I thought it was actually very sweet. Unlike some people, I didn’t think Elias was just being hella mean to Dora, considering she gave whatever he gave her right back. I thought the banter was pretty good!

Like I mentioned, I liked both Dora and Elias well enough! Their stories were pretty interesting, and I did find myself hoping that nothing terrible happened to them.

The story didn’t seem too high risk, which was fine with me. We were just vibing in England with a dash of magic on the side. Honestly I was more interested in the sleeping plague than the other parts of the story. Having Dora, Albert, Elias, and sorta Miss Jennings on the workhouse case was sort of a vibe.

Lowkey I wish Dora, Elias, and Albert were Poly bc the crush vibes were there
