Excellent for the middle book in a trilogy. Terrifying cliffhanger and leaves a lot to be resolved in the last book. Why do I still want her to end up with the darkling? Also loved the surprise/pop-up savior(s)!

This book definitely impressed me more than the first. I'm still severely annoyed by the main character and Mal at so many points, but I've also learned to sympathize with them.
My favorite addition of this book was Nikolai, he was a joy on the page and everytime Alina was mean to him, I smacked the book.

I generally picked this series up as a pallet cleanser to all the general fiction I've read, I wanted something easier to read for the fall. Sufficed to say, it hasn't been... A smooth trip, or always an enjoyable one, but I do like the world and would love to see more of it in the final book.

Way better than book 1. I was impressed with the journey of Alina. I guess the world-building on this book was stretched versus the first novel. I am so in awe of the newly added characters. I can't wait for what is installed under book 3.

This book is good! I really am enjoying this series. I like how the author is able to depict the characters and story. I’m excited to see what the next book offers!

The dialogue was better in this sequel and steadily improved through the third, until I was laughing regularly at the banter between characters. Also I love the main character that's added in this book.

I finished this one and went immediately to the finale. Good stuff!
