This series gets better with every book! There were so many wonderful anxiety-inducing moments reading this. Particularly when I started reading chapter 20, I had to literally put down my phone and take deep breaths to prepare myself for what was about to follow. It was soooo good. All I can say is, get ready for some real relationship drama.

I will say there were times for both Levi and Dominic where they acted...unprofessionally that really annoyed me. However, what I appreciate is that these actions were usually met with some serious consequences. Given that, I can mostly overlook them; also since these times also often enhanced the drama of the story.

I end each of these books wishing I immediately had the next one to start. The next few months of waiting are going to take forever.

The best one in the series so far!! The stakes are much higher than in the earlier books and we finally see some emotional, character and relationship development happening. This novel gave me what the others before had lacked. I love it when the main characters are going through it - and oh boy, Levi, Dominic & co are NOT having a good time. I also loved the mysterious, damning, ominous presence of The Seven of Spades. They're a marvelous opponent. I truly enjoyed this book.

Things have really hit a boiling point here. The Seven of Spades has Levi losing the tight grip he has on his control. With Dominic relapsing into his gambling addiction and hiding it from Levi, their relationship is on shaky ground. The conflict and angst between Levi and Dominic is dialled up here.

This series is so gripping, I don't know how Cordelia Kingsbridge does it. I can't put them down.

This series is really great. The mystery of the vigilante/serial killer mixed with the search to find him is fascinating. It’s dark and rightfully disturbing, but done in a way where you understand, if don’t fully agree, with the killers actions. Plus, the killer’s obsession with Levi is part creepy, and part intriguing.

Spoiler!

The dynamic between Levi and Dominic is so well done. Their back and forth is great, a healthy dose of hot, humorous, romantic and domestic, with great sparring in between. The way the author dives into Dominic’s addiction was also really well done, I thought. I hope he finds a way out because I really don’t want the two separated for too long.
