A gruesome, but informative read. Also an important historical document.
Carrère originally wrote weekly articles for a French newspaper about this trial and this is an edited version of all of them. Usually I'm not the biggest fan of that concept, but it is done quite well here, although there was some repetition of information in parts. Which make sense in order to refresh the reader's memory, when you are following a weekly publication, but comes across as a bit of lazy editing in a book.

La cosa che mi ha colpito di più di questo libro è l'umanità. Per le vittime, certo, ma anche per gli imputati, per le loro storie e i loro diritti.
Il termine "necessario" è fin troppo abusato, ma in questo caso è l'unico che mi viene in mente.

Excellent book on how the trial went on. You get to know the participants, from the heartbroken families to the unwitting participants.
