I imagine I would have loved this even more as a teenager than I loved it now. It hits that young voice so well, feels so recognisable even though the setting isn't familiar. I felt for the characters as they messed up, faced the consequences or not, and had to reckon with the messiness of other people being as human as they are. Great book.

One of my favorites in elementary school. Haven't revisited it in years.

I could tell this was actually written by a 15/16 year old!

It has a very true, poignant voice; and pretty juvenile plotting.

Nevertheless, I get why it's a classic of YA literature

I read this book when I was in elementary school and wanted to give it another read as an adult.

What a heartbreakingly beautiful story. “Stay golden Ponyboy” has wrecked me. I will never emotionally recover from this book
