My favourite part of this book was the last two chapters, "Fashion and consumption" and "Fashion as an ideal in life." Svendsen draws on an impressive number of theorists but for the most part, lacks an understanding of fashion as a whole. This was especially prevalent during the chapter "Fashion and art." I found the concept of this book to be interesting but overall lacking in substance.
