Cerita ini menyentuh sekali... dengan sudut pandang seorang anak sebelas tahun yang baru kehilangan ayah dan adiknya... terus ditinggal sama mamanya. Nyeseknya berasa... dan rasanya sedih sampai mata berkaca-kaca tiap kali dia ngerasa sedih waktu liat keluarga sahabatnya yang masih lengkap dan harmonis banget.

Tapi ada pelajaran bagus juga... bahwa rasa kehilangan itu nggak akan terus-terusan menjerat kita kalau kita mau memutuskan untuk maju. Dan Aubrey, salah satu gadis kecil yang tegar meski nggak membuat dia jadi terkesan 'terlalu dewasa'.

I would give this book thousand of stars if that would be possible. It’s so much fun to talk about a book that I actually enjoyed because well where do I start? I loved all the characters with my whole heart and will love them forever ♾️ the storyline was so emotional for me that I found myself sobbing in the hardest way. I wouldn’t do anything different and that’s actually not possible but there it is. I marked so many things in this book and every month I take a look in the book and remember everything again. Best feeling ^^ the writing style was immediately the best one I’ve ever read especially if you pay attention to the perspective of Aubrey as a little girl who lost her family. I know I will love this book every year even more and that Aubrey will stay with me forever 💕

I probably read this book for the first time when I was about 10. I've returned back to it many times over the last nine years and always manage to find something new between its pages. This book is a respectful look into the world of childhood PTSD. Anyone, no matter their age, could benefit from reading it (and shedding a few tears in the process). Love, Aubrey remains one of my favorite books of all time.

This book could have made me shed loose tears a few years ago, maybe, before I read [b:Counting by 7s|15937108|Counting by 7s|Holly Goldberg Sloan|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1396225872l/15937108._SY75_.jpg|19034797] which felt like a very similar story but so much more heart written into it. Suzanne LaFleur's writing in this was really simple. I know from a child's perspective, you should expect that. But it was so straight to the point that nothing really resonated with me. I've heard many grief-centered stories over the years, some real some fictional, and this, unfortunately, is not one I have any particular feelings for.

Cried buckets whilst reading this book. Heartbreaking in parts, but Aubrey's hope, courage and incredible strength left me smiling through the tears
