Solid four star read. Loved having a book with older characters as live interests because they are few and far between. I think it developed the kink aspect very well and the slight fantastical aspect won’t deter anyone who enjoys contemporary. The characters were very well written and the pacing was just right. Just an enjoyable read overall.

This book was incredible. Yes it was filled with spice and lots and lots of BDSM scenes but it was so much more than that dealing with the characters on a much more emotional level that made it an absolutely stunning read for someone like me who could relate to the main female lead so much.

Diana is a middle aged woman, she’s got a mum tum, self confidence issues and cellulite and is ‘real’. When her birthday comes around and her life decides to crumble as she loses her job and catches her husband cheating she decides to go to a hotel bar and drown her sorrows. It’s at this bar that she encounters Azrael - he’s your typical book lead male; tall, dark, handsome and rich. So why on earth would he want a plain Jane? And that is where the author’s fantastic writing comes in.

This other-worldly man (he’s actually not a man but something else) see’s the beauty in a damaged person and with the use of BDSM and friendship helps to rebuild them and their confidence. With quotes such as

“The shape of your body doesn’t matter, pet. It’s your body, and you’re not getting another one, so why waste your time being ashamed of it or even hate it?”

And

“You're a praise kink girl with a rather fragile self-confidence. I don’t need to put you down. Your subconscious will do it for me. What I have to do is compliment you to finally get it into your thick head that you are beautiful.”

Diana isn’t the only damaged Pet that Azrael has, he also introduces Scott - again another non-typical lead character - short, balding and with a bit of a beer belly. He’s had a rough past but Azrael sees something in him and something in Diana and the relationship between them both grows whilst still maintaining their relationship with Azrael too. They explore kink in a really honest and responsible way comparing pain and praise, Dom and sub etc and it makes for a really enjoyable read. It’s not all sex and emotion although the book is heavy on those too but there are some genuinely laugh out loud moments too with all three characters being brilliant and working fantastically together too.

A bit of Demon dick goes a long way apparently.

4.5! I knew this book would be steamy but .. WOWWWW. It’s the entire book of steam PLUS a nice storyline. Warning you will be all squirmy while reading in public and I will be recommending to everyone!

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review, all thoughts/opinions above are my own.
