Naturally the story has racism (and a racist history) and there is quite a hefty amount of casual sexism as well—nothing shocking for the time period but kills the author's credibility in my eyes. I just can't take it the book (or Christie's reputation as a legendary author) as seriously as I should.
Though the story itself became obsessively gripping rather fast. Great atmosphere of terror. I was hooked. Not totally convinced by the murderer reveal, though, but it was believable enough. I keep getting frustrated considering that nobody ever thought to keep everyone in the same room to prevent murders...
Lawrence and Vera were my favorite characters so I was hoping they'd hold out as long as possible... My wish came true, in a way!
