The first half of the book is about the history of methods and devices that helped build to modern AI. The last few chapters really brought home the way AI works, at a high level.

I felt like I learned something from this book what it is though I couldn't tell you. I would say I didn't understand about 70% of this book and that is totally on me. I wanted to try something new and doing that with a book like this in audio format did not work for me but now I know. Other than that I really like the narration of this book it felt like they were talking to you not at you. And I really appreciate that. But like I said the only reason I don't like this book is 100% on me I will do better in the future.

An interesting and detailed read that's realistic about capabilities of AI. It takes the time to recognize the long human history of writing and learning without excluding important figures or taking a Eurocentric lens. It recontexualized intelligence and knowledge for me as a form of long-term collaborative action. A short book with a fun style that's really worth the read.

A curious and delightful book; although the delight is not uniformly distributed. The initial chapter or so did not grab me, but I came to enjoy Yi Tenen's nuanced take on AI.
