I like how the main character is slowly growing a harem.

I think I liked this one slightly more than I liked volume 1, but both were overall just pretty solid 3/5 reads for me overall. I'm intrigued, but not *super* invested, and so far they're fun, but nothing mind-blowing.

I'm obsessed with Titus and Messiah honestly. And Zan and Gideon. Actually I'm just obsessed with everyone - I love that the cast of characters feel so quirky and fun but are still given good fleshed-out backstories. Is it a bit cliche? Definitely. But sometimes the familiar rhythms of good stories are exactly what you need and this really HIT.

There's a level of familiarity between the characters that I just don't find believable after only two volumes. They also have way too much concern and trust for people they've just met. I'm still enjoying the story and mystery though.

This was a really fun, action packed Josei series. It feels like a fantasy-steampunk version of And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie! Who will the new Emperor be? And why are there so many secrets around this selection process.

I love the art, characters, and the plot is intriguing and gripping!

Art: Always lovely.
The plot ever thickens; the biggest thing revealed was obvious (like cinnamon roll Ewan is a direct descendant of the emperor), the smaller things were not (like finding out the Ewan's older brother that raised him wasn't actually his brother, creepy), and I was just having a good time. I'm so curious how the gang's going to escape the murder tower, and if it was actually Gideon torturing & killing other caretakers and candidates.
