The good thing about this book is that the killer is hard to guess until the end.

The not so good part is that there is a lot a lot a lot of talk and dialogue and going around in circles. It is my second book in this series and by the end of the book i was just eager for it to be over. I didn't even care who the killer was anymore.

I liked this one initially, but I found the second half meandering. I didn’t like all the different perspectives and didn’t find the ending that satisfying.

I’m kind of undecided about this series. It certainly has potential, but ever since I found out that the author is actually American instead of British (though she has lived in Britain), all of the British-isms seem put on instead of quaint. I find myself wondering, would a police sergeant really call her boss “guv” or has the author just watched too much Monty Python? It’s also a bit strange that Kincaid is attracted to absolutely every woman he meets (or at least comments on their relative attractiveness, regardless of their role in the story).

I’m going to give it one more shot and see if the later books are deserving of the hype.

Again, didn't solve the murderer but I don't think this one could be solved with the information the author gave us. I had my sights set on a totally different character, who I'm still convinced is crooked, and that storyline got no resolution.

I enjoyed reading these first two books in succession. A good mystery series is like a comfy pair of pajamas on a blustery winter night. Warm, comfortable and soft. And now I need to go to bed.

Some things are best left alone.

Jasmine Dent, Superintendent Kincaid's terminally ill neighbor dies in her sleep. Soon it becomes clear her death is anything but natural. She may have committed suicide by self-injecting an overdose of Morphine. But if so, where are the empty vials? Why didn't she leave a suicide note? And why did she make an appointment to see her brother if she never intended to keep it?
