WOW, this book was really good! it told a lot more of the story and pulled a lot of parts that seemed disconnected in book 1 together for me. So now we understand the background of why the Spits/Taints/Glints are fighting each other. The one thing I wished at the end was that they returned the old lady's heartstone back to her in the House of the Lost.

I think i am going to have to actually get added to B&N wait list for the next book (due 4/7/09). Isaac gives this series 5 stars!

Goes at quite a pace and packs in two world wars! Pleased that this time there are (strong-minded) women statues - not very many in London which makes this a bit of a challenge for the author I admit - and the characters are more complicated, although a tad annoyed that the BL continues to be a "bad" place.

Very good book series but I am a little too old to enjoy this as thoroughly as it should be. That being said, I am invested in finding out what happens so on to the next installment!

Every bit as gripping as the first book which is not something that always happens. Strong characters and totally believable story

I purchased all three of these. Struggled to get through the first. Hours into book two and I found I just could not listen to it anymore. I feel like these are probably really good stories - I just cannot get into them at all and found myself avoiding it. So yeah. Just no.

This book was much better than the first book in the series. We learn very important things about the past in his world of un-London. We also see the very deep important character flaws or strengths of each person. There are new character introduced, we see the story of our glint pass through the past and the present and we learn a lot about the Walker. George is presented with the problem of having to conquer 3 challenges or die because he too the hard way. Those are interesting parts of the book. I thought the author did a good job moving between the different scenes with the various characters with varying chapter lengths but I think that near the end it jumped a lot really fast.

Interesting idea with statues coming to life and a two-sided battle beginning. Characters are not interesting or unique enough
