4.5 stars.

Really love when Will and Horace get to work together. Also, the emotions are awesome-- like someone will snap at the other or say something out of jealousy and then apologize, recognizing that they messed up and shouldn't have done it AND then admit why, for the most part. It is nice to see guys in fiction showing emotions and taking responsibility for what they say, even in anger.

An average instalment in this series. I still don’t understand why the author decided to make Will a full Ranger already. This series is Ranger’s APPRENTICE. It’s eliminated the best part of the series, Halt and Will’s relationship.

I enjoyed the banter between Horace and Will. It shows that they are still young but have grown since the beginning of the story. It was nice to see Alyss and Will together. Though the romance isn’t well developed.

Overall this was fairly average.

This is the first book in the series that I gave less than five stars because I just felt that something was missing. It wasn’t as interesting as the last books. We were stuck at one place and everything felt to easily solved. It was very predictable and things dragged on for too long. I also miss Halt. Thankfully Horace was back tho.

I did think it was enjoyable. It was better than book 5, but I think it was just this whole plot that wasn't as pumped up as the first 4 books. Hoping to rekindle that flame in book 7.
