This book explores the remarkable ascent of an obscure Saudi royal family to become the crown prince, making him the world's richest and most powerful man.

It is a compelling read: unbelievably lavish lives of the royals, power grabs, and court intrigues! MBS is depicted as enigmatic, aggressive, and determined. It's about how much Saudi has changed under him, though it does feel like the book is geared toward a Euro-American audience. The book sheds light on the corrupt practices of powerful individuals and companies, revealing the lengths they will go to maintain control over this valuable resource. A must-read for anyone interested in the intersection of politics, business, and power.

i reached the end of this book and felt like i hadn’t learned anything new.

i judged this book by its cover — even though i know better — and was let down. (the cover was the best part)

Enjoyable read, providing extensive further insight into the workings of the Saudi state and the elusive and clearly all round bad guy MBS. Ever more relevant now with not just Saudi but other Middle Eastern countries gaining ever stronger footholds in the global economy as well as in sports and other fields. With an inevitable World Cup heading Saudis way, an important read for people, so they’ll start questioning whether they should support the regime or boycott.
