Facebook was seriously incredible. I would highly recommend it. The only reason I gave it less than five stars is because I felt like it was dragging along in some areas. Overall, I loved it though.

Overall, really enjoyed this book! I'm a huge Kristin Hannah fan, so not a huge surprise. I think you can tell this is an earlier book of hers due to the lack of character development in some of the characters, but still, just such a great story with a plot that drives you to read this book quickly and (in my case) two sittings.

What I Liked
  • It was a quick read. Not as long as Kristin’s other books
  • The plot made you want to keep reading — every character had their own past that needed to unfold.
  • I thought the connection established between Alice and Julia was really well written.
  • I liked the relationship between Julia and Ellie.
    • I liked Peanut and Cal’s characters really added to this scrappy group of lawmen
  • I liked the drama of the ending…will she get custody, will she not?
    • Perfect Lifetime story ending

What I didn’t like
  • Max’s character felt very forced and his character didn’t feel as developed as the others, especially towards the end.
  • I think the scene at the beginning establishing Julia’s past was good, but it felt like it didn’t fully come around as we got further into this book.
  • It definitely felt like an early iteration of what I know Kristin can do in terms of character development.

Like all Kristin Hannah books, you expect a gut punch. This book is no exception! I cried from joyous moments as well as the painful ones. I found myself rooting for the main characters so often, they felt real, like I was going through this with them. The only reason I rated 4.5 and not 5, is that I would have liked to see Kristin dive into the sister's past and more into what divided them initially, and express things about their parents. If there had been just a tad of background, this is easily a 5 star read. If you have children (i do) there are some trigger warnings, but this is an excellent read!

The characters in this book are so lovable and there is a lot of good commentary about life success and defining who you are outside other’s opinions.

This is an incredible found family story and the “mother/daughter” relationship aspects of this book are incredible touching. The end of the book had me sobbing!

As my first Kristin Hannah novel, this one did not disappoint. The plot of the story is heartbreaking and intriguing. The characters are flawed but so very loveable. The ending is perfect. I really enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to reading the others I have on my TBR by this author.
