Incredible book that will bring you to tears over and over again. My only complaint about it is the authors comments during interviews, proudly saying she did zero research into trauma and abuse for this novel. Changed how I feel about this book.

This is the saddest book I have ever read in my whole life. It is doom and gloom the entire book. But it is so very well written. You'll fall in love with the characters. You'll hate them at times. It's a very tense ride most of the time, but it is well worth it. I highly recommend this book. Be warned though, if you suffer from mental illness this may not be for you.

Wasn't a bad read, the author had no mercy with the main characters, a little too much of the "little life" was just so absurdly dramatic and dark that the plot twists in the end weren't even surprising anymore. It just got worse with every chapter (not the story but like the events and what was happening) and just when I thought that it was okay now, it got bad again. The book is long, but too short to tell the story of all characters playing a part in it, that's maybe why two of the four main characters just dissappear for half of the book or are just living their "little life" in the background of it. I wish the book had a longer ending, the last three or four pages is just a plain monologue of what happened to a few more characters after the story "officially" ends. I don't think that I would read it again but that's because it is just so long and the first 200 or 300 pages are a little bit difficult to get through (a lot of new places, characters and not much of the story I was looking for when I bought this book). In general worth a read but there is nothing that makes this book "special" besides the detailed relationships between the characters.

(Wouldn't recommend it to teenagers because of violent story lines and memories of some "Look backs")
