When I first got into Sarah J. Maas, I read the Throne of Glass series first rather than ACOTAR. However, I do think you should read the ACOTAR series first and then the Throne of Glass series because I feel like I didn't appreciate the Throne of Glass series on the first read through as much as I would have if I read that after ACOTAR.
I know a lot of people say this book is not the greatest but I think the character in the book does act like an 18-year old young woman would. Not many people can pull off 3 POVs in a book and I think SJM did it masterfully.
Oh and for those of you who don't know, this was initially written when SJM was 16 which is honestly super impressive.

There is a good amount of language (bitch, hell). There are a few kisses but nothing sexually explicit. There are a few sexist jokes and an implied mention of rape. Of course with the plot being about assassins there is some gore and death but nothing that bothered me too much.spatterson7's review against another edition
