Just Haven't Met You Yet is so much fun! It's like a Hallmark movie in book form. The characters are unique and the main character is quirky in a genuine way. I also enjoyed the backdrop of the main character discovering her own family history.
That being said, it's a bit more realistic than your average Hallmark movie. It acknowledges that, even if a relationship ends, that doesn't make it a waste of time. Nora found out her parents didn't get married and they broke up before her dad died. While this is a rude awakening, she eventually realizes that they still had a lovely summer together.

I DNF'ed this book once already, but decided to give it another chance since I adore Sophie Cousens's other books (especially This Time Next Year). I listened to the audiobook version and I somehow managed to power through this time, but I still don't like this book and I could still give Laura a good shake to wake her from her fantasies. Laura is Cousens's only shallow and unrelatable heroine, and I will not be revisiting her story.

Laura has such an idealized idea of love, which makes her feel like a cookie cutter romcom fmc for me. She's dimwitted about what's right in front of her, but her romantic journey is still entertaining. I had fun with the taxi and suitcase escapades, even if the outcome felt predictable. More intriguing than who she'll end up with is her family story that unravels throughout the book in Laura's own recounting, old letters between her parents, and meeting her father's family as well as the tales her grandmothers and great-aunt can relay. The family story without the romance plot would likely be a slog to get through, though, without more drama added. Seeing the island of Jersey through Laura's eyes is also beautiful.
