This was my first Nicholas Sparks novel ever. I read it for the first time when I was a senior in high school, I believe, and found it to be a beautiful love story. I just decided to re-read it this year. It was good. I liked it. Tear-jerker.

I kept on complaining about the book while reading it because the characters were so “ideal” and everything was so perfect that it was annoying. But the ending, even though very sad, put a nice cherry on top for me. It brought lots of emotions and interesting thoughts. The book deals with a topic that is present in my life and that was definitely interesting to read about, and again, the ending, those last few pages, left me some very beautiful ideas and thoughts about it. I wouldn’t say it was a great book, but it definitely was great reading it.

This is my least favorite book by Sparks. It is not a love story that has a happy ending (which I want from a Sparks novel). I did not feel connected to the characters and it took me forever to read (which I hate). The ending left me sad, disappointed & depressed. I agree with the comments from other readers about throwing the book across the room when they got to the ending. I have never seen the movie and probably never will since I am not a fan of Kevin Costner and I do not go out of my way to see his movies (although some that I have seen have been enjoyable).

Damn I'm so done with tear-pouring endings. I hate to cry reading every Sparks's novel. It's a beautiful story.

The book made me go through all kinds of emotions. Initially kept me guessing and I left with the heavy hand. Then when Teresa and Garrett became a couple, the book annoyed me. Protagonists me seemed too undecided, and the story seemed too long end, but after I finished the book, I realized that Nicholas was his plan for the final novel. The ending is heartbreaking and I must say that I expected him any moment.

I normally like books by Nicholas Sparks, but this one I did not like. Ugh! I wish I hadn't read it. It infuriated me so much. Grrr.
