i appreciate how unapologetically black this is, though

apart from a couple poems -most of the book is thoughts and like, tweets- not my cup of tea.

I thought this book was a great, quick read. This is definitely one that hits home for those who are of African descent and has great mantras to repeat for affirmations. I had to take pictures of the poems so I remember them. This would be a great book for a young woman (teens/early 20s) coming into their womanhood. The content is poetic, yet easy to digest and not too emotionally heavy.

Lindo poder apoiar e ouvir a voz de mulheres que vivem realidades diferentes da minha.

"fighting sadness is necessary war.."

"..so don't ever let me hear you say
that words are just words.
that
words don't leave a mark,
make a change,
create where once was nothing."

"darling,
remember to run from men who
promise you completion.
you are already whole."

"your mother was a myth
your father was a story
but that never kept you from
loving mightily.
