Having watched the movie long before I ever read the book, I had forgotten it was Michael Crichton. So I love "The Andromeda Strain." One of my favorite books, actually. And this book, stylistically, starts very much like TAS. The movie leaves out all the deliciousness of the first 10% of the book - the slow build of trying to figure out what is happening. Of course, I knew what was happening and it was very frustrating to see so many people miss so many signs! The thing is, I LOVED the movie. But even with this movie I can honestly say THE BOOK WAS BETTER! The book was awesome. So much more detailed. So many more questions answered. And, it was different enough from the movie that it was still suspenseful. Looking forward to more books in the series.

Wait, there WAS one negative part throughout the book. Lexi. I really wanted a dinosaur to eat her.

Originally, I picked this up because I enjoyed the movie a lot. However, I ended up feeling like I read something completely different. I found that while Grant is the main character in both book and movie, Ian Malcolm had the most memorable moments and flushed out philosophies than anyone else. He was definitely the most interesting character in his monologues. Also Hammond was extremely unlikely in this version and I have no pity for him.

90% of the problems in this book were the direct cause of the children. Specifically Lex. Besides the annoying children, it was a great read!
