I enjoyed this much more than part 2. Going into it knowing of the immortality storyline made it a different experience then part one where I didn’t know the twist until the end. I loved the female friendships and the support between characters.

This book was exactly what I wanted it to be: an earnest historical fantasy teen romance. Absolutely 5/5 stars for what I was looking for in reading it, 3/5 stars more generally but in a way that means absolutely no disrespect to the author.

I originally picked up and put down this book because of the ending of the first book, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! Surprisingly, I found that the supernatural notes within this book were well worked into the storyline. I wish it was fleshed out a tiny bit more in terms of lore and mechanisms for immortality, but thats just me being nit-picky. I was COMPLETELY thrown off by the secret queer WLW romance introduced in the second part of the story and I genuinely couldn't have been more happy to see it. It was what made the book a 5/5 instead of a 4/5 for me. Such a great read!

(What if I enjoyed the book but wanted a different ending?)

This was a very lovely Regency AU that reminded me of Death Becomes Her, but I really liked Simon, even though I know we're supposed to cheer for a Jack romance.

I love this world and I think this is one that I need to see if I can find fanfiction somewhere.
