Read this based on an article I recently read on the author Simenon and the fact that the books have recently been re-translated.
Quick simple read, nothing special.

A very interesting and intriguing case, a problem for Maigret over a crime that hasn't yet been committed but both parties playing the game and stating their cases and worries.

This is amongst my favourites that I have read so far, top quality writing, great plot, charcaters and enough action.

Another quick easy Maigret. Far from amazing but there's worse way to kill a few hours.

Definitely one of my favorite Inspector Maigret's.

Easily top 10 of the series here. A nifty little setup (a husband and wife both suspecting one is going to murder the other; maigret challenged by the fact that he's emotionally and intellectually involved in a crime that hasn't happened yet) and tons of interesting psychological nuance, not only in the suspect characters but also between Maigret and his feelings about his wife, boss and co-workers. Feels like the perfect gateway book for fans of Simenon's Maigret books and fans of Simenon's roman durs hard psychological novels to take the leap from one to the other if they haven't yet.
