Relentless di Karen Lynch è un libro fantasy che mi ha catturato fin dalle prime pagine. La storia segue le avventure di Sara, una ragazza che scopre di essere una Mohiri, una guerriera metà umana e metà demone, creata per combattere i vampiri. Sara ha anche un potere speciale: può guarire le creature non umane, come i troll, i licantropi e gli animali. Questo la mette spesso in pericolo, ma anche in contatto con Nikolas e Chris, due Mohiri che la aiutano a scoprire la verità sul suo passato e sul suo destino.
Relentless affronta anche il tema della famiglia e di come le bugie, anche se piccole, possano danneggiare la fiducia tra i parenti, specialmente durante l'adolescenza.
Il libro è pieno di azione, suspense e colpi di scena, ma anche di momenti divertenti e commoventi. Mi sono affezionata ai personaggi, soprattutto a Sara, che è altruista e coraggiosa, va oltre le apparenze ma è anche incauta e avventata. Mi è piaciuto il rapporto di amicizia che ha con Roland e Peter, e il legame speciale che ha con Remy, il suo amico troll. Mi ha intrigato anche il rapporto tra Sara e Nikolas: infatti il libro non segue lo schema tipico di molti fantasy in cui c’è un ragazzo bellissimo che fa innamorare la protagonista. Qui la storia d’amore non è evidente, ma si percepisce solo in modo sottile una certa attrazione tra i personaggi. Questo rende il libro più interessante, perché l’autrice si concentra sui sentimenti dei protagonisti.
Il mondo fantastico descritto è molto vasto e ben costruito, con tante creature diverse e interessanti. Mi è piaciuto il modo in cui l'autrice esplora il tema della luce e dell'ombra, e il fatto che i Mohiri vivano in simbiosi con un demone che fa parte di loro.
Ho trovato originale e credibile il fatto che il potere di Sara e la bile di troll non possano guarire tutto, ma abbiano dei limiti.
Il libro mi ha ricordato un po' Shadowhunters di Cassandra Clare, che racconta le avventure di un gruppo di cacciatori di demoni metà uomini e metà angeli. Forse l'autrice si è ispirata a Shadowhunters per creare i Mohiri, ma credo che abbia anche aggiunto delle sue idee originali.
Mi piace come l’autrice descrive il rapporto tra i Mohiri e i loro demoni, e come questo influisca sulla loro personalità e sulle loro scelte.
In conclusione, Relentless è un libro che consiglio a tutti gli amanti del fantasy, soprattutto a chi ha amato Shadowhunters e le storie di vampiri e licantropi. Io gli do 4 stelle su 5, e non vedo l'ora di leggere i seguiti della serie.

This was beautifully written. It was the perfect blend of vampires, werewolves, trolls, and faeries. The concept of the Mohiri being half demons is pretty cool. The characters was amazing. I thought Nikolas Danshov was the best character because he was loyal, protective and everything a girl could want in a guy. I loved the way Sara did things on her own, it makes her a bad-ass. I also loved Roland and Peter. Lynch knows how to draw her audience in. The only I would have made this story better is a kiss between Sara & Nikolas. Still rooting for them to be a couple! Can't wait for book 2!

It's strangely a case of it's not you, it's me, this time, because there's nothing wrong with the book, I just don't like it because it's too YAish and I think my tolerance for YA writing, characters and stories in general has reached its limits with this one.
Again, not the book's (or the aurhor's, for what matters) fault; I probably would have loved it if I read it when it came out, years ago, and at least I got it for free on amazon.

I loved the storyline in this book! Packed with action and tons of hilarious moments, this book provided a great escape into a world different and yet so similar to our own. It really makes you think, could more really exist?

Gratuit sur la boutique Kindle, je me suis dit pourquoi pas ... Eh bien, ma foi, l'histoire en soi n'a rien de fou : une histoire d'adolescents, vampires, loup-garous, tout ça tout ça. j'ai eu un peu peur de commencer à lire une sorte de Twilight-like, mais au final pas d'histoire d'amour neuneu (ouf), et les quelques autres créatures qui peuplent cette aventures rendent ça plus agréable. Je l'ai quand même lu en quelques jours, les personnages sont assez attachants (même si j'ai eu un peu de mal avec le personnage principal, un peu trop "chieuse" et rebelle à mon goût, mais au fond, je m'y suis peut-être reconnue un peu haha). Je vais même sans doute me laisser tenter par les tomes suivants ... :)

At first I was angry, All my favorite books resembled this book do much! But then I got to thinking, genius! I can't put it down because I get to re-read them! This book was exciting and ended perfectly! Let's face it books that end so dramatically making you DREAM of the next book, simply SUCK! This book ends just in the right place to make you want more but also want número dose:-D
