The 3rd book in the John Cleaver series. This book was lacklustre compared to the previous book and it felt as though there was some character assassination on Johns part.

If you are a fan of the first 2 books then I would suggest reading this and seeing if you would like to continue. But the overall regression of Johns character other than him feeling "something" for the first time and an event at the end, the book series has just started to become repetitive, even outlandish at some points.

Even though this is a story about a boy searching for the third serial killer to come to his town, I felt like this was more about what the boy learned about himself. John finds himself perplexed by the question, "Why do people leave?" and can't find an answer to help him cope with the feelings that their absences awakes in him. Because John does not feel emotion like other people he struggles to define and explain what he does feel. He doesn't want to become a sociopathic killer and yet fighting demons that come to his town leaves him with little choice. If John can find the serial killer, can he get rid of them without becoming one himself?

These books just keep getting better and better. This was the strongest one yet! It kept me guessing and also left me sobbing at the end

If I could give this book 10 Stars I would! I am so glad I found this series. Each book just gets better, I couldn’t put this down I could t read it fast enough. I can’t wait for the next book but I don’t want the series to end.

This book has just been sitting on my self for a long time. I was scared that it was going to be boring so I decided against reading it for a long time. I have never read the first two but this book does a great job with connecting the characters and the plot that it is not necessary.

I loved the main character: John Cleaver. It was clearly evident that he did not feel typical emotions. Dan Wells did a great job with allowing the reader to get into the characters minds and letting us feel empathy for their emotions or lack thereof.

It was fast paced and the twists at the end had me reeling with sorrow, excitement, and contempt. I could not believe some of the stuff that happened and it all happened so abruptly. I loved this book and I am really contemplating buying the first two to see what twists are in store.
