I really did appreciate this book and it wasn't a difficult read for me despite the writing style (which probably messes some people up) and the fact that it's a translation. It was a bit predictable when it came to the events that took place, but the weirdly kinda 3rd person unlimited, kinda not (almost a 2nd person perspective?) perspective was very interesting to me as a writer.

This is more philosophy than a real story, so I can see some people not liking it, but I enjoy things like that. Overall, I think this book is an art piece.

This book is a beautiful piece of writing. Saramago’s style is unique, one that proceeds slowly and fast at the same time. The first chapters may be found boring, but in my opinion the reader’s interest grows as the story progresses. I loved the way this book ended, and the the development of death as a character.
