Absolutely devastated, cried the entire last chapter. Wasn’t sure about the twist at first, but I think it all worked out in the end!

My jaw was on the floor so many times. I felt the end was a bit rushed, they tried to just tie everything up super quickly. I had several questions like
how did they tell the authorities about everything? What was the reaction to the volume of women affected? Did the authorities find the other bodies so the other families could lay them to rest?
I felt like these missing items make it to where I can’t give this a 5 star. I will warn this book is gruesome, graphic, gory, and horrifying at times - please look at the warnings before reading. I would consider this splatterpunk.

I get the feeling this is a book that nobody should really like. The trigger warnings are endless, and if I was rating this book on the first 40% it would be rated a lot lower, because it was very disjointed and hard to follow at first.

Once the pace picked up, so did the quality of the story and I kept going to see what happened to Julia, to see what Paul was really capable of, and to that extent, to see what Claire was truly capable of. If I were Claire, I’d have done much worse than what she did. He deserved much, much worse than just being shot twice.

Overall though, I actually really enjoyed the story, when I probably shouldn’t.

wowwww this book went crazy. it’s definitely more on the horror side of a thriller, so be warned. much more graphic and gruesome than i was expecting but it accomplished that shock factor. i audibly gasped multiple times.
the sisterhood is so real and so relatable  — i loved the familial aspects of this book.
i can’t say much without giving it away, but i definitely recommend if you love a twisty thriller and have a strong stomach.

This book was GORY for sure. I understand why people are upset about it being marketed as a thriller instead of a horror. I personally think the trigger warnings listed on Storygraph are adequate and the book shouldn't be reviewed badly because you failed to read them. Overall, this book grabbed me and threw me for a loop. I couldn't trust anyone and it made my two hour flight delay much more enjoyable. I thought at first that the dad's letter POV was annoying but I soon realized that the letters served a purpose.
Bro is a PSYCHOPATH AND DESERVED TO DIE!! Fucking wild.

This one was rough. The story was engaging and I wanted to keep reading; while at the same time I never wanted to pick it up again. The violence was too much for me and there are some images that will haunt me for a long while. I would have enjoyed this book more if the focus had been more on the mystery aspect, and less on the SA descriptions.

Audiobook. This is my second from this author and I think she's my new favorite. The writing is so beautiful and the plot leaves you guessing but not handed to you or left with holes. Major major trigger warnings though, this is not for the faint at heart. Could see this being a very good movie!
