This is a very dark read, but a well written mystery. It probably could’ve been shorter. The audio book includes a short story that I haven’t finished listening to yet, so it looks like the book is 20 hours, but it’s actually a couple less.

It was alright I guess. Almost halfway through I thought "What could possibly happen next" and realized I was not interested enough to find out. A lot of gore that made me wonder why some women are so obsessed with graphic violence against women.

I was definitely hooked by the plot, writing style was not for me l, things felt predictable, and it was often way more graphic than I’m used to in psych thrillers. And Claire got on my nerves but we all need one character that annoys us so that’s alright

It gets tough to read towards the end.
 Prepare yourself.

Absolutely gut wrenching story. Heartbreaking and mysterious that made me have to know what happened next. It’s heavy so take the time to process it and take care of your mental health but for those who love dark gory thrillers, it is perfect.

The events narrated are violent and disturbing, with multiple trigger warnings (violence, sexual assault, murder, addiction, corruption, kidnapping…).

The book is well-written and well-structured, featuring an effective plot twist. However, I found it repetitive at times, particularly in detailing characters’ personal traits and emotions, as well as certain parts of the story. Despite this, the author successfully maintains tension throughout the book, and the plot proves solid enough to surpass predictability.

Loved this so much! And hated it too, but for all the right reasons. There were twists and turns in just about every chapter and I never knew what I was going to be surprised with next! I was taken surprise by each revelation, which never happens for me and I never knew who to trust. Only complaint is it was almost too graphic to stomach. If it hadn't been so well written and I didn't care about the characters, I might have stopped. Lots of very graphic torture, violence & death. Be warned. I have a headache and I've had dreams about this book. But it was so good. I'm very confused how I should be feeling haha. My first and probably not my last Karin Slaughter book, but I'll definitely be needing a palette cleaner in between.

I can’t decide how to rate this book. It includes some of the most disgusting and depraved ways a person can possibly think. It’s so dark. I didn’t realize how awful it was going to be until it was too late. The only reason I was able to keep reading was because the two women at the center were worthy of rooting for. Ultimately, it’s a four instead of a five for me because there were parts that were too unbelievable and too sadistic, and I don’t ever want to be mistaken as condoning violence against women for any reason.
