to start, this book was beyond messed up. no trigger warning prepared me for how gruesome some parts were. some parts made me physically ill & wondered WTF is wrong with the author during her time to sit down and write this book. however, the plot was super engaging, I was on the edge of my seat & I was wrapped up in emotion as we read the dads letters to his missing daughter. I felt his pain so deeply & it made me cry reading the last letter to Julia.

it would be a 5 star read if it was a tad shorter because some parts of the book made me bored & felt unnecessary to read or added filler info that didn’t contribute to the plot. overall, this was a top tier thriller & it delivered

Normally I don’t love a “we’re sisters who haven’t spoken for ten years since this traumatic thing happened to us but we’re getting the band back together to solve the mystery” kind of story, but that’s exactly what this was and it was worth the ride. There’s an extra short story about the girl who was kidnapped at the end but I skipped that; too sad.

this was traumatizing. i didn’t think it would be this bad. it was very very well written and extremely well written but wow. i couldn’t read it at night for fear of nightmares and i had to chase it with stupid hockey romances each time i’d read.
