This book was so much better than the first one. I am getting very annoyed with John though. He has stupid ideas throughout this whole thing, and he still thinks that he's right. I mean 1) liking Six (how would that ever have been smart????) 2) meeting Sarah (I'll admit I did think that was an okay idea still not great though) which turned out to be an EPIC FAILURE and 3) getting the Chests, which ended up coming back to mess up Sam. I mean really, what is wrong with you dude? At this point, I'm starting to think Sam mostly wanted to stay for Six, because all John is doing is stabbing him in the back repeatedly. With a rather large Mog dagger :P Six... let's just say I still think she's pretty cool, but her greatness factor is starting to waver, thanks to a CERTAIN SOMEONE. I did like Marina's character, I really liked hearing the story from her point of view. It was a new take on what it was like to be running around and things. And her faulty Cepan also made the story more interesting, though I was sad to see how that turned out. I guess she couldn't really expect much better when she was totally ignoring her duty for so long. It's whatever.
So all in all, I liked this book more than the first, but there was still a bunch of frustrating parts.

Okay, so once again, for a YA sci-fi book, it succeeds. However, I found this one way more confusing than I think it needed to be. I had thought we would be following Six and learn about her past and whatnot, but instead we also got Four/John's POV. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem except that it would switch during the same chapter and sometimes I had no clue whose head we were in. Especially since sometimes they were TOGETHER. But I digress. There were some wild twists at the end and it seems that more Loriens have been discovered, but I really hope we limit John's POV going forward because he is so dumb.

Agh. Grrr. What a cliff hanger!!! This book was a lot better then the first for me. I still don't love some of the writing. It's not very smooth. But I love the story line.

This book actually deserves 3.5 stars, but since I can't do that I'll give it 4. This book isn't a literary masterpiece by any means, but it is a fun, easy, escapist read. The characters are only as developed as they need to be to keep the story flowing. The plot is very basic and not hard to follow. The world in which the story takes place has been greatly simplified so that many events don't explain how they happened or how they even could happen.

I would read this book again, but it most certainly will not stand the test of time.
