If you follow my blog at all, then you know that I often say “normally romances aren’t my thing”. That’s usually the case, but what I’ve found is that with a Mandy Baggot book, all bets are off. Baggot’s writing style is hip and engaging, her dialogue snappy and humorous. I found myself sucked into Autumn’s plight from page one. Here’s the interesting part, and what makes this such a great read. I didn’t want to like either character…in the beginning.

Autumn Raine is superficial, self-involved, and seems completely unappreciative of her glamorous life. Nathan Regan, is also instantaneously detestable, patronizing Autumn from their first meeting. However, the shift to engendering reader empathy is seamless in this book, in trend in all Baggot works. Before long our perception alters so that we’re not reading about two, obnoxious, narcissistic individuals, but instead about two lonely, damaged people who need to feel something again.

Security is a compelling, well-written work that will sucker you in immediately and refuse to let go. Whether you feel secure or not, or just like the idea of feeling that way with a stunning Baggot leading man, this book is for you!

i read this book because i share a name with the main character. Autumn Raine is a spoiled entertainer used to the world of glitz glamour and everything she could ever wish for at her beck and call but something is missing. The relationship with her mother is cold and distant. Her mother is Foreign Secretary and due to her high profile job is threatened by the latest terrorist group. Autumn is the target and a security guard is hired. Nathan is the said bodyguard. Secrets buried deep keep him emotionally distant but great at his job. As Autumn realizes that the world she lived in was a bubble of plastic. Facing the betrayal of her boyfriend and agent/ best friend can Autumn trust a stranger that doesn't really exist? With both Nathan and Autumn ensconced in a world of betrayal and danger what happens when love enters the mix. does anyone have time for that? It was an okay read. Some parts reminded me of the movie bodyguard and it was even referenced in the book..so i guess it was supposed to. I didn't like Autumn and i didn't really get a feel of Nathan so i didn't really buy the whole falling in love thing but i liked how Autumn's evolution of character.

Loved this.....read it in a few hours and couldn't put it down. Autumn is a pop star whose life has been threatened by kidnapping. Regan is the bodyguard who is trying to keep her safe. He is not the usual bodyguard type and Autumn doesn't seem to have the confidence in him when they first meet. However, thrown together in an adventure that sees Regan trying to protect Autumn from kidnappers, these two characters get to know each other a lot more than expected. An excellent storyline with lots of twists and turns all the way through.

An enjoyable book. Autumn is a spoilt pop princess whose life has been threatened by kidnapping. Nathan is the bodyguard who is trying to keep her safe. This was and engaging and gripped me more from the middle of the book onwards. A solid 4 stars.
