This memoir is a confidence kick in the pants for creators and self-doubters out there.
I laughed out loud, felt her grief, and reveled in her joys.
So quotable it’s ridiculous.
Infuse this book into my veins and soul and heart, please.

Gonna be honest, this was a DNF for me. I got about halfway through and quit. I really love Leslie Jones, and think she's really funny, strong, and beautiful. I enjoyed learning about her life, but it just went off the rails about 1/3 way through. I genuinely believe writing how you speak can make a story more relatable, especially on an audiobook, and this felt very personal. I'm not even some sensitive flower about swearing, but it got to the point at one spot where I think she said fuck like 20 times in a sentence and I couldn't even follow the thread of what was going on... and, sorry, I just started to get bored. The audiobook feels really off-script, and I laughed zero times. I downright cried about a story when she was very small (no spoilers). It had so much potential.
I wanted to enjoy this, but I just couldn't power through. Sorry, Leslie.

okay I cannot speak to the actual book because the audiobook was genuinely 12.5 hours of Leslie just popping off and not reading a single word written in the actual book-- it was so funny, and also all over the place in the most authentic and vulnerable way. Would probably recommend reading the actual book over the audio book in this case, although I did appreciate the vibes of a 12.5 hour podcast (aka the audiobook).

I love Leslie Jones. I don’t know if I actually even read anything in the book because a 288 page book shouldn’t be a 17 hour audiobook, but honestly whatever. I would’ve loved a little more structure and maybe a little less tangent but it was fun. Not the best autobiography I’ve ever read, but she’s unapologetically herself and that’s so refreshing.

Oh man, the audiobook for this was really like Leslie Jones is sitting in your living room and having a frank discussion with you, and she's such a force to listen to! I love her confidence, which never comes off as arrogance and instead comes across as: I've tested, I've endured, I've triumphed. Because yes. I really enjoy her and it's wonderful to see someone who's worked so hard for success (especially in the field their passionate about) get it!
