I liked this part of the Kirkus review: "Are there extremely convenient plot twists? Yes. Implausibilities, shortcuts? Fine. Could this all be derided as sepia-toned hokum? Sure." The reviewer goes on to say that despite that, it's a feel-good, well-told story. My book group really enjoyed it- they said it was a nice bit of fluff with lots of local flavor. I thought it was a bit of fluff that was easy to read and had local flavor, but I don't know that I enjoyed it or thought it was anything more than easy-to-read fluff. I just thought it was a little too juvenile and the HEA was way, way too convenient.
