Well-researched and engrossing, but for a graphic novel, the drawing lets it down.

As well as showing - in a child-friendly way - the horrors of the slave trade, the book shows that black people have been in the UK for centuries. Black history is British history.

An important read. It is easy to think that Scotland wasn't involved in slavery, but it was. I also love that further sources are provided for those that love research.
