What a wonderful read! I was engaged in it from the start! This book is geared toward children ages 9-12, and as an adult I found it fun and mysterious. The friends [and frenemies] in the story work together to solve the mystery of the goblins' changed behavior, facing all kinds of danger and excitement along the way. I hope there are more Goblin Squad [Troll Squad?!] adventures coming soon!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

'The Goblin Squad' is a middle-grade fantasy that follows a group of children who chase the pesky vegetable-stealing goblins out of their town. The author kindly sent me a copy to read and review.

The town of Reflection Falls has a problem. Goblins. These annoying creatures sneak down from the mountains every night to steal the towns vegetables. To combat the problem, the town has it's own Goblin Squad, made up from young boys who hope to one day become knights, who chase away the Goblins. Ten-year-olds Ralf, Bobb, Mido, Slagg and (the Squads only ever girl) Rubi have just been assigned to the Squad and put in team D together. However, their first few patrols don't go very well and the adults are threatening to suspend them. But during their patrols they start to notice the Goblins acting very differently to how they normally do, and when they tell the adults, no-one believes them.

Rubi hatches a cunning plan to find out what the Goblins are up to in the mountains, but this adventure might be too much for the brave team D. Will they find out what's happening, and more importantly, will they escape the mountains in one piece?

I thought this was such a great adventure story for both children and adults alike! It's aimed at 8-12 year-olds so the plot and language is nice and simple, but I still think it can be a very enjoyable book for older readers too.

It's nice and short (only 141 pages) and I easily read it in a day, so would be great if you're just looking for an easy, fun 'filler' book between longer reads.

I loved the characters, especially Ralf and Rubi. They each had such unique personalities and were very well developed. I especially liked Slagg's development throughout the book.

I'd recommend to anyone looking for a fun, quick read. I might see if I can get my 9-year-old nephew to read it, but I'm not holding out much hope as he has a very short attention span! I'd love to read more about these characters in the future, and will definitely be looking out for more of Jeremy's books :)
