This book took me too long to read, & that is nothing against the book, it just had no hockey in it & I’m in my hockey romance era. That being said, I did love this book. Evan & Gen are perfect for eachother, and their growth as individuals and as a couple thoughout the book is so inspiring! They don’t even realize how much they push eachother to be better versions of themselves, they really do complete eachother!

Evan and Gens relationship was so toxic at the beginning that I wasn’t sure I would like this book but I ended up enjoying it quite a bit. Once Evan starts to make some changes I felt way better about the two of them. Very sexy. Why is cooler such a grump in this book?

While I didn't particularly enjoy Good Girl Complex I really wanted to read about Evan & Gen's relationship. Evan was introduced in Good Girl Complex as the identical twin to its male lead Cooper, but we only heard about Gen because of how her supposed actions affected Evan and influenced his dickish behaviour, so I was very interested to get more of a backstory on their past. Unfortunately, what we get is a very toxic second-chance romance between a girl trying to shed her party-girl image and live a sober life and a guy who can't take 'no' for an answer and doesn't believe that his supposed 'best friend' is being genuine in wanting to change her ways.

"Evan and I have always had this tension between us. Pushing and pulling. Making each other jealous and manipulating a response. It's all part of the bad habits I'm trying to break. Yet, in doing so, I'm repeating the steps."

I think I may be ageing out of enjoying Elle Kennedy because I just found it, overall, to be quite juvenile. And yes, comparatively, 22 is young, but their actions (Evan's more so) were so immature. I also didn't appreciate that Gen kept stringing along Harrison knowing full-well that their relationship was going nowhere while she still had feelings (and kept hooking up with!!) Evan. That was totally unfair.

Everything wrapped up much to quickly and neatly, throwing up happy resolutions between so many intertwining relationships, it was a bit of an eye-roll. I won't be continuing with the series after this.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a chance to read and review an early copy of Elle Kennedy’s newest book, ‘Bad Girl Reputation.’

This one was just okay. I didn’t hate it, and I definitely didn’t love it. I prefer the first book, ‘Good Girl Complex’ to this one for several reasons.

Was the story good? Yes. Was it problematic? Also yes.

Let me just get to it: Genevieve (Gen) and Evan have a very toxic relationship. It’s so toxic, that the charm of the ‘second chance romance’ is lost. While there was definitely chemistry between them, the way they were towards one another, and the ups and downs, were too much and very unhealthy. Not saying every relationship is perfect but, this one didn’t give me great vibes.

There was a lot of growth with both the main characters, almost making this book a 4-star read for me, however, the story was way too repetitive. I lost count of how many times Evan mentions that they are drawn to one another and Gen mentions how they were bad together and did stupid, reckless, stuff. We get the point already! But the blow pop story, super cute! And female empowerment at the end, when something happens.

It was interesting reading Evan’s POV because in the first book, where we follow his twin brother Cooper’s POV, Evan seems pretty sleezy. But when you read his POV in this one, he actually is a pretty decent guy who just has a lot of emotional baggage he needs to go to therapy to, to work through.

And my god. The steam in this one was HOT. The first book was tame on the steam, but this one multiplied it by 7. I know Kennedy is known for her steamy scenes (hello Off-Campus series), but damn. I mean the book starts off with some serious steam and it just continues to the point where it (almost) feels like a filler for space.

I would absolutely love to see more stories in this series following characters like Craig and Alana. Knowing Kennedy, I imagine we will see an announcement soon of their being more installments (hopefully).

This book was the perfect second chance childhood love romance read for the summer. The characters were lovable but had an edge of realness to them. The interpersonal relationships within this book were realistic and clear. Although there was a lot of characters it was easy to remember who was who due to how each character was truly their own person. I really got to know each and everyone of them to some extent. The flaws within the characters just made them even more relatable. I never felt the negative biases against peoples life choices that make me feel judged that sometimes be a theme within romance books about turning your life around.

It was hard for me to put the book down at points. And I can't wait to read more about Avalon Bay, the characters, and their love stories. This book was a HEA.
