This is an in depth study on about a decade of the life of Marjorie. As she goes from late teen years to mid 20s. An aspiring actress, it follows her "career" and her dating/love life and what becomes of a Jewish woman in a changing world in the 30-40s. It was interesting.

Ahhh. To have a woman's knowledge of men, as a young innocent virgin.

What I learned:

Enjoy the ride with a cad, but don't marry him--and certainly don't let him touch you below the waist or you'll be seen as a cripple with a deformity.

Resign yourself to suburban mediocrity, and convince yourself you want it more than anything else. The reward will be a giant carbon rock, 4 children that give you long-term memory loss, and premature gray hairs that age you.

Keep your head in the ground regarding world events because you're pretty.

Starve yourself to ungainly thinness because it's fashionable.

Drink highballs and chain-smoke to drown out life's disappointments.

By all means, rely on religion to convince you that certain things are "just meant to be."

Do all that, and you'll have lived a life worth living.

......FOR ME TO POOP ON!

I reread a favorite of mine over the last few months. I read it in highschool after reading Winds of War and War and Remembrance by Wouk. He is a favorite author of mine. I highly recommend this book and it is long & dense so be prepared. Now is the perfect time to read it.
