Bendis, in my opinion, does Guardians how they should be done.

Sigh. Details were fine. But in general this is typical Marvel space crap. With Kitty Pryde written terribly, but drawn okay except for her face. If they don't have a decent story idea, I wish they wouldn't put out a book. Waste of time.

3.5 stars. Story wasn’t as good as previous ones I’ve read by Bendis - but I did like the art and Kitty Pryde as Star-Lord.

I'm not an avid reader of any Marvel titles, but I am a fan of GotG & saw this in my local library! The Thing was an entertaining but odd addition to the team, and I was entranced by the action. I'm probably just naive but I rather enjoyed it. Not enough to buy my own copy, though--there's something missing that I can't quite put my finger on.

Is this a DC comic? Because it clearly says “Volume 1” on the cover yet we join the story already in progress. Was Bendis just warming up for his job switch?

This took me nearly two weeks to read in dribs and drabs. I kept coming back to it and reading a couple pages before sighing “meh” and moving on to something else. I had to push myself to finish the last chapter (issue) tonight.

He’s trying to ape the movies, but it doesn’t quite work. There are a couple funny lines but it feels like a warmed-over pastiche of the second GotG film. The other Guardians comics I’ve read feel like this exact same story, just with different villains. Kinda lazy there.

Also, Bendis’ stuff is *horrible* on iPad. His constant use of 2-page spreads destroys readability, and he does the double thing randomly, so it constantly caught me by surprise.

Man, I’m realllly in a reading trough this week.

I‰ЫЄm not a huge fan of Sci Fi or the Guardians, I read this solely because Kitty Pryde was in it.

This was a great first guardians of the galaxy comic for me. It had great illustrations and a lot of funny moments.

The only thing that kind of threw me off was the array of new characters.

I don't know if some of these characters get introduced into other (series?) of guardians comics, but I was confused to see Kitty (don't know her) and Venom (why is he there) and Ben (uhhhh?).

I think this mostly has to do with my need to read a different comic series before I continue on with this one, but for the most part it was a fun read!
