El libro está compuestos de más de 100 escenas cortas que varían en su temática (la muerte, escenas locales, la belleza de la naturaleza, etc.), aunque la mayoría se centran en la relación del autor con su burro. Dicho así no parece muy emocionante, es más, la idea de pequeñas escenas descriptivas sobre la relación de un hombre con su burro no es nada motivadora, pero Juan Ramón Jiménez tiene una prosa poética que simplemente quita el aliento. Las descripciones son hermosas y conmovedoras por igual. Realmente se puede llegar a sentir en la propia piel la relación del poeta con Platero. Hace precisamente lo que un buen poema debe hacer: sugerir, emocionar y transmitir. Sin duda una obra que merece la pena leer y que recomiendo a todo el mundo que haya pensado en coger este clásico alguna vez (y a los que no se lo han planteado también).

,Platero e Eu' é um poema em prosa, em que Juan Ramón Jiménez, Nobel de literatura em 1956, descreve o ambiente e a vida da gente simples da sua pequena aldeia andalusa na cidade de moguer na Espanha, e também a afeição que o une ao pequeno e peludo burrito Platero, que  lhe serve de confidente, companheiro e amigo, juntos eles vão passar por momentos felizes e tristes, vão ver a beleza e a tragédia da vida, como sentir tristeza pela morte de uma garota da aldeia, empatia pela mãe de um marinheiro perdido no mar e compaixão por um homem furioso que se embriaga pela primeira vez. Como observa Juan Ramón Jiménez no prólogo do livro:" A alegria e a tristeza são irmãs gêmeas, igual às orelhas de Platero.”Não leia este livro em público, pois ele vai fazer você chorar em algum momento…Esta edição é a completa com 138 pequenos e deliciosos capítulos. É um livro para crianças e adultos.
Livro maravilhoso.

«Ονογραφία

 Διαβάζω σ' ένα λεξικό: "Ονογραφία: μτφ. λέγεται ειρωνικά για να περιγράψει τον όνο".
 Καημένε, γάιδαρε! Κι ας είσαι τόσο καλός, τόσο ευγενικός, τόσο έξυπνος! Ειρωνικά... Γιατί; Ούτε μια σοβαρή περιγραφή δεν αξίζεις εσύ, που η σωστή, σοβαρή περιγραφή σου θα 'ταν ανοιξιάτικο παραμύθι; Τον καλό άνθρωπο θα 'πρεπε να λένε γάιδαρο! Τον κακό τον γάιδαρο θα 'πρεπε να λένε άνθρωπο! Ειρωνικά... Από εσένα, που είσαι τόσο πνευματώδης, φίλος με τον γέρο και το παιδί, το ρυάκι και την πεταλούδα, τον ήλιο και τον σκύλο, το λουλούδι και το φεγγάρι, που είσαι υπομονετικός και στοχαστικός, μελαγχολικός και γλυκός, ο Μάρκος Αυρήλιος των λιβαδιών...
 Ο Πλατέρο, που δίχως αμφιβολία καταλαβαίνει, με κοιτάζει επίμονα με μια τρυφερή σκληρότητα στα μεγάλα του αστραφτερά μάτια και μέσα στο μικρό, κυρτό, βαθυπράσινό τους στερέωμα σπίθες πετά με τη λάμψη του μικρούτσικος ο ήλιος. Αχ, μακάρι να 'ξερε η όμορφη, τριχωτή του κεφάλα ότι εγώ προσπαθώ ν' αποκαταστήσω τ' όνομά του, ότι εγώ είμαι καλύτερος απ' αυτούς τους ανθρώπους που γράφουν λεξικά, σχεδόν το ίδιο καλός όσο κι εκείνος!
 Και σημείωσα στο περιθώριο του βιβλίου: Ονογραφία: μτφ. πρέπει να λέγεται με ειρωνία - φυσικά! -, για να περιγράψει τον ηλίθιο άνθρωπο που γράφει λεξικά».

I love this book to bits. It is heavily lyrical. It evoques childhood and a place that doesn't exist anymore, a quite village in the countryside. If you read it, images, scents, feelings of that lost childhood and that lost countryside place will come to your mind.
In order to enjoy it, I guess you have to be in the mood for poetry. But it is precious and I totally recommend it. A wonderful work of art. Not sure about the ideal age for reading. I read it in high school and loved it, and later as an adult I have re-read a couple of times. Although I would say that when I was a child it made me feel like daydreaming and as an adult it makes me feel more melancholic and longing for those places that can't be reached.
