Note: This the 5th book in the Falling Kingdoms series so this will not be a comphernsive review.

In preparation for the book 6, Immortal Reign that is coming out on December 12th I wanted to get caught up by reading book 5, Crystal Storm. I have to admit I didn’t enjoy this one as much as I have enjoyed other books in this series, but it was still a solid read.

The greatest thing about this book was the fact that we, finally, got the opportunity to see the inside of the Sanctuary city. As a result, I was able to form some theories about who the Watchers really are because their city is made of white towers with doors that slide open when you approach them, elevators that run without sound, and “magical” objects that project a speaker’s face on the side of the edifice so that everyone in the area can see and hear them. When reading about these supposedly “magical” objects, I was struck by the notion that, maybe, these “Watchers” are not practicing magic, but had some advanced technology or science that the citizens of Mytica don’t have. With the tall white buildings, the doors that open when you approach them, the elevators that run without sound, and the obviously advanced technology, I got the idea that the Watchers might be aliens of some kind. If you think about their city, their physical attributes, and how they conduct themselves differently, then the idea that they might be beings from a different world entirely makes sense. Basically, it’s the “Superman” theory.

This book had some problems plot-wise, though, because it fell into some troupes that were kind of annoying. For instance, just when Cleo is starting to overcome her grief of losing everyone she cares about, it is revealed that her old flame, Theon had an identical twin brother and her best friend, Nic, might be dead. I personally think she has been unhappy enough and deserves to have some happy times. Rhodes had this habit of making you think characters are dead and then bringing them back, and it is starting to get on my nerves. Although, in some cases, I am okay, especially when it is my favorite characters or my OTP possibly being able to come back because one of the members isn’t dead like we thought. It just seems like the plot is beginning to meander some and get convoluted and confusing, and I worry if Rhodes is going to be able to pull it all together and tie up all the tendrils that she has put out.

All in all, this was a solid book, but it could have been better. Final note, I love that my two OTPs, which I can’t reveal because it would spoil parts of book 3 and 4 are now, officially a thing. 4 stars!!!!!

Without the toxic relationship it would have been better. It was bothering me too much and they keep saying that they love the other person! Cmooonnnn their behaviour towards each other was abusive and so unhealthy in every book (minus some other moments)(and i have only realized it now that I am older and thinking back to their relationship makes me want to puke)

And characters are often close to death or presumed dead and suddenly they are very much alive. It bothers me that the author hasn‘t managed to kill of important characters for real.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE TO WAIT AN ENTIRE YEAR FOR THE NEXT BOOK?!

I was very scared going into this book after reading a couple meh reviews from booktubers I trust, but honestly I decided to just go in with the intention of having my own feelings, and let me tell you I am DECEASED. This book definitely felt like a bridge to end of the series, and I wanted so much more from everyone, but that didn't ruin my enjoyment for this book. Let me tell you tho, I was so ready to fight for Magnus, y'all have no idea how much I care for this boy. I usually don't react much when reading, but I was screaming and laughing out loud, so I know for sure this book was amazing. Morgan Rhodes, you know how to ruin me and make me bite my nails, scream, laugh, and have so many feelings that cant be put into words! I don't know how this is going to end but I am dreading the wait.

Hands down 5 Stars!
