robotnik's review against another edition
I picked up this book because I was promised fun time traveling with HG Wells. A hundred pages in and none of that happened. Instead, I've been reading a hundred pages of this sad sack rich boy who wants to shoot himself but is too busy waxing poetically in his head while some obnoxious narrator thinks he's Lemony Snicket or something. At this point, I just wish he'd shoot himself already and put us all out of our misery.
There's almost 600 more pages in this book. I simply cannot bring myself to 600 more pages of this, even if maybe there is time travel involved though reviews seem to suggest that the time traveling, which was honestly the selling point of this plot, has very little to do with anything and probably isn't real.
I'm just going to go waste my time on something that I actually find enjoyable rather than painful, thanks.

I didn’t like it. Too violent for me. Didn’t mind the main character or the style of writing, but not really into Jack the Ripper and all the gore that comes along with it. It’s just not the novel for me. I only read about a hundred pages and then I stopped, the sex and violence are not up my alley.
