The Gulfstream that Seichan and Joe Kowalski are sharing is knocked out of the sky while on the way to Morocco. It was an experiment of a new weapon that they were caught up in by accident. Heading to a partly completed resort, they find employees and the guests of a child's birthday party out cold, victims of a horrific new weapon. Now Seichan is tracking the soldiers who took some of the victims, including a child, for testing, leaving Kowalski with the others.

Rollins never fails to satisfy, whether in a full-length book or, as in this case, a novella. Two of my favorite characters are in this one, stumbling into the middle of a new hellish weapon. Seichan comes to terms with the darkness in her soul due to the life she was forced into as a child. And Joe has a new favorite weapon. That boy does love his guns! 4.5 out of 5.

This story was really fantastic and interesting! I loved seeing these two work together, and his new weapon! I can't wait to see the two of them and that new weapon in The Seventh Plague!

Although this was a short story, I was pulled into the story almost immediately. It fit the main characters personalities perfectly.

Good old fashioned zombie story with a James Rollins/sigma force twist.
